About Us and Our Farm
We started our farm back in 1997. Our names are Chris and Leslie Burdette. Originally we had decided to raise ginseng and some native plants. We both had an interest in growing sang as they say around here.
Within 3 years we had about 4 acres of wild simulated ginseng planted along with some goldenseal and other native plants. Ginseng being a long term project we started looking for other things to get into. Berries!!!!! That was the new idea. We started planting blueberry bushes and red raspberry plants. We ended up with a high of 1600 blueberry bushes and several patches of red raspberries and blackberries. NEW IDEA!!!!! Lets start raising our own blueberry bushes. We built a greenhouse and began raising blueberry bushes to sell. We now have a few thousand bushes for sale each year. A few years later. ANOTHER NEW IDEA!!!!! Let's get into the daffodil business. So it began. We got the idea to rescue abandoned flowers and give them a new lease on life. This helps us, the flowers, and our customers. It is really a nifty thing to go out and walk through the beds and see all the different types in bloom. So now to the present day. We have been able to multiply some of the heirloom daffodils to the point that we can begin to sell some of them. We will be gradually adding more to the for sale list as they begin to mature. |
